HOW OUR SESSIONS WORK

  • Consultations are 50 minutes in length.

The number of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. In our initial appointment(s), we’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy and identify your priorities. From there, we’ll get a sense of how many sessions may be helpful.

As therapy progresses, we’ll regularly review your wellbeing and check in on how you’re tracking toward your goals. Your therapeutic plan will be adjusted collaboratively as needed to ensure it continues to meet your needs and supports meaningful progress.

  • Referrals and Fees

Clients can be referred by a GP, psychiatrist, medical specialist, school wellbeing team, or another allied health professional. You’re also welcome to self-refer—no referral is necessary. Please feel free to get in touch via email or phone for a confidential discussion about your needs.

    Fees and Payment

IN.BALANCE is a private billing practice and does not offer bulk billing. The full consultation fee is payable at the time of the session.

That said, financial hardship should never be a barrier to accessing support. If you’re experiencing financial difficulties, please reach out to discuss your circumstances.

    Medicare Rebates

If you’re referred by a doctor under a Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates of $141.85 per session (current rate for clinical psychologists). Medicare currently allows rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

Rebates are also available under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan, though the rebate amount is lower.

    Private Health Insurance

If you have private health insurance with psychological cover, you may be able to claim a rebate for sessions not covered by Medicare. Please check with your insurer for details, as cover varies by policy.
Note: You cannot claim from both Medicare and private health insurance for the same session.
